Today, the issue of buying licensed products captures more and more people. But the fact that about 60% of optical media (CD / DVD discs) are illegal goods on the Russian market casts doubt on the possibility of buying licensed discs even in well-known stores. However, there are quite a few signs by which one can distinguish an illegal disk from a real one. When buying, you should be guided by the following criteria.
Instruction manual
1
If the disc is sold on the market, in a stall or in the underpass, then the chance that you will buy pirated products is very high. Most licensed products are sold in specialized stores. You need to pay attention to the time of the appearance of the DVD, for example, if the movie is still being played in movie theaters, and you are already offered a copy, then this is a completely pirated disc.
2
These discs are usually sold packaged in gray plastic boxes with two or three blade holders. But pirated ones are mainly sold in completely black boxes with a four-petal holder (moreover, removing a disk from it is very problematic). Often, a pirate box quickly cracks and falls apart. There are streaks on the disc caused by uneven coating of the aluminum layer.
3
In a box with a fake disk, you are unlikely to find a booklet or description of the tracks that should be present. Polygraphy is usually copied from licensed discs, but the text is only partially translated from English, while the pictures may look slightly vague. On real discs, the color scheme is much brighter than on pirated ones.
4
A disk signature is an engraving on the inner rim of an optical medium. On pirated discs, it may look like this: Mafia-1-DVD-4-DF-0017. Using databases of anti-piracy structures, you can easily distinguish a pirated release (in some cases, pirates copy signatures from licensed disks).
5
In addition to the signature on the disk there is other information (SID CODE) applied during smelting. Such information cannot be changed or erased, since it is recorded on the surface of the mirror. SID CODE is issued in order to identify the products of any licensed plant (this is done for tax purposes). But pirate factories never set such codes.
6
Another hallmark of the pirate drive is the lack of full dubbing into Russian. Instead, an amateur translation is recorded in two voices (male and female) - usually of poor quality.
7
There is also another way by which you can guaranteed to distinguish a pirated disk from a licensed one. If you point the laser pointer beam at a real disk, you will see only a small bright dot, and on a pirate disk it is necessarily accompanied by two parallel lines.
