If you are a baptized person or are just about to be baptized, you must wear a cross on your body. But before putting it on, the cross should be consecrated in the church. You can buy it in a secular jewelry store or in any church shop. By the way, in temples, churches and chapels, crosses are already sold consecrated.

Instruction manual
1
Choose an Orthodox church. All churches are open to believers from morning to late evening on any day of the week. You can sanctify the cross (and other things) at any time.
2
If your cross is similar to others, in the case when several objects are consecrated at the same time, mark it by tying, for example, a bright ribbon. A pectoral cross can be given for consecration along with a chain. It is important that the cross you choose is of the Orthodox type. An item that does not meet the canons will not be taken for sanctification.
3
Contact a priest or any church worker before worship. Explain what you require. The cross will be handed over to the altar. Any priest or bishop on duty at that time has the right to sanctify the pectoral cross.
4
Pay consecration fee. If it is not provided, donate any amount for the needs of the church or the construction of the temple in a box near the candle shop.
5
At the altar, a priest or priest will read special prayers asking God to sanctify your cross. During prayer, the subject will be sprinkled crosswise with holy water.
6
If you donate an unholy pectoral cross to perform the baptismal rite, be sure to inform the church minister first. The subject will be illuminated directly during baptism, dropping into a font with holy water.
7
After the rite of consecration, the priest will take out the tray with a cross from the altar and give it to you, immediately put the cross on your neck. All Orthodox Christians should be in the church only with the cross on.
8
Go to the priest, bow and with words thank him for the service and ask for blessings.
9
The pectoral cross for every Orthodox Christian is the main symbol of faith, the holy sign of the existence of Jesus Christ. Take care of the consecrated cross. Try not to remove it even in the most unforeseen situations.
