It is impossible to imagine a modern library today without visual aids focused on reader requests. Visual forms of propaganda of literature can be expressed in the design of exhibitions of book novelties, thematic stands, collages, in the use of library drawn, applicative posters, colorful catalogs, etc.
You will need
- - stands;
- - books;
- - a set of upholstered furniture;
- - coffee tables.
Instruction manual
1
Despite the large selection of visual aids, not every library uses them to design a reader’s corner. Problems are usually associated with the insufficient usable space occupied by the library. To make the reader’s corner as informative and noticeable as possible, follow some recommendations.
2
When designing a reader’s corner, remember that filling it with a large number of books scatters the attention of library visitors. Therefore, use photo montages made on the basis of colorful illustrations.
3
To comply with the principle of accessibility of information posted in the reader’s corner, create an “inviting” zone. To do this, place an information stand on a multi-level model, taking into account the interests of readers of different ages. Divide it into three zones: information for teachers, parents, high school students; information that is interesting and useful for all categories of readers; information for novice readers. At the same time, it is better to design the zones in a different style solution.
4
Place information on the library’s opening hours, a guide (depending on the number of rooms), library usage rules, vibrant advertising of book novelties and, if possible, capacious slogans, slogans and slogans that attract the attention of visitors on the “inviting” stand.
5
Include an express exhibition of book novelties in the reader’s corner. It can be constantly updated by changing the names of the sections, taking into account readership demand. In addition, the month of organizing an express exhibition affects the choice of new products on display. For example, in May - on the eve of the summer holidays - there may be a demand for software works in literature.
6
Depending on the purpose of the hall in which the reader’s corner is located, it is possible to arrange thematic shelves with materials, for example, on local history, on various sections of the curriculum (dictionaries, encyclopedias, textbooks, etc.).
7
To maintain feedback with the reader, select a place in the corner where the visitor can leave comments, express wishes, express gratitude to the library staff, etc.
8
As themed public events are often held in the library, put upholstered furniture and coffee tables near the information and exhibition stands. On them you can put magazines, fresh newspapers, leaflets.
