Instruction manual
1
Take a book or newspaper, select a passage to read. Turn on the recorder and read aloud the selected text. Try to read it the way you usually say in life. Listen to the recording and analyze your mistakes. It is possible that you will be very surprised. Perhaps you are eating sounds, taking extra pauses between words, or talking too fast. Such features can only be seen from the outside.
2
Develop and train your articulation apparatus. Perform breathing exercises, do exercises for the muscles of the face. Such simple training not only improves speech correction, but also improves skin tone and improves blood circulation.
3
For independent training use tongue twisters. Say them slowly first, exaggerating each syllable. Then try to increase the tempo by controlling the clarity of each sound. Be prepared for the fact that the first time you will have pain in the muscles of the face, lips and tongue. Record all phonetic exercises on the recorder. Do not erase your notes to follow the progressive dynamics. If you have children, train with them. The game of tongue twisters can be turned into a daily useful ritual.
4
Before your important public appearance, write your speech on a separate sheet. Read aloud first, emphasizing in parallel. Then rehearse in front of the mirror, controlling the intonation, clarity and expressiveness of your speech.
5
If you do not plan performances, but intelligible speech is necessary in everyday life, practice free-format home workouts. Stand in front of the mirror and speak out loud about free topics for a few minutes. Tell about yourself, about your work or hobbies. So you prepare yourself for potential dialogues and speeches.
note
If you have serious problems pronouncing certain sounds, do not try to solve them yourself. It is better to seek the help of a professional speech therapist. It is not too late to do at any age.
Useful advice
Try to keep calm during monologues in public. It is nervousness that is often the cause of fuzzy speech. Breathe smoothly, do not be nervous, take semantic pauses and be confident in your oratorical abilities.
