Supporters of the political views of the director Nikita Mikhalkov created and registered their party - "For Our Homeland." The program of the new party is based on the Manifesto of Enlightened Conservatism "Law and Truth", which was published in 2010 by Mikhalkov.
The party "For Our Homeland" received a certificate of registration on July 11, 2012. Such information is indicated on the official website of the organization. Now the party is actively engaged in the opening of regional units. The party’s creator was its current chairman, Mikhail Lermontov. The presidium of the political council included Vladimirov Alexander, Rybakov Mikhail and Stolyarov Oleg. In total, the structure consists of about 50, 000 people.
The manifesto “Law and Truth”, taken as the basis of the party’s program “For Our Homeland”, consists of 63 pages. In the document, Mikhalkov states that the "euphoria of liberal democracy is over" and that the modern social system, consisting of corruption, the arbitrariness of the authorities and attempts to catch up with the West, does not support the majority of Russian citizens. This manifesto has been criticized by a number of experts. So, MGIMO professor Andrei Zubkov called Mikhalkov’s work “a banal application for legitimizing an authoritarian regime in the interests of the Soviet elite.”
Supporters of the party "For Our Homeland", on the contrary, fully share the views of Nikita Mikhalkov. In their opinion, during the revolution of 1917, our country lost the old spirit and former great ideas that existed before the coup. And the lost must be restored. Among other famous people whose position is supported by the political structure, prominent figures from the Bolshevik uprising of 1917 are the philosopher Nikolai Berdyaev, the politician Pyotr Struyev, and the priest Pavel Florensky.
After the new party finishes registering the regional branches, it will be able to take part in the elections, but, according to Mikhail Rybakov, member of the presidium of the political council of the party “For Our Homeland, ” the organization is not going to be elected anywhere in the near future. Their main goal is the revival of traditional values in Russia. Nikita Mikhalkov himself is not a member of the For Our Homeland party and, as they say in his press service, is not going to join it.
