Instruction manual
1
Just note that the chance to publish a collection of short stories or poems is very, very small. Nowadays, everything is determined by the market, not a single publisher will undertake the publication of works on which he will not be able to earn. Therefore, it is most realistic to try to publish a novel. A genre can be almost anything, from fiction to so-called female novels.
2
When writing a novel, you should accurately calculate the volume of the text, it should be 12-15 copyright sheets. Novels with a slightly smaller or slightly larger volume can also be published, but it is better to immediately adhere to the optimal size, convenient for publishers. One copyright sheet is forty thousand characters with spaces, defined in the Word text editor: Service - Statistics.
3
All texts must be correctly formatted, namely, written in.doc format on sheet A4, font Times New Roman, size 12 points, no hyphenation, aligned to the left. All additional requirements can be found by searching for relevant information in search engines.
4
Suppose that the novel is written and meets all the requirements for its design. The main task now is to find a publisher. There are a lot of different publishers, but you should focus on the largest, such as: Eksmo, AST, Alpha Book, Olma Press, etc. Alternatively, go to any major bookstore, find the literature of the genre you are interested in (that is, the one in which your novel is written) and see which books of which publishers are on the shelves. Publishers' email addresses can be found on their websites.
5
Manuscripts are accepted only in electronic form. It is not recommended to send the text to several publishers at once, this behavior of the author is unethical. It is more correct to be patient: they sent the manuscript to one publishing house, and waited for the result. If refused, send your creation to the next, etc. The manuscript can be reviewed up to six months (although usually 2-4 months), so be patient and do not rely on a quick result.
6
Along with the manuscript, be sure to send a synopsis - a short, on one or two pages, presentation of the plot. In the application itself (not in the synopsis, but in the text of the letter) briefly tell about yourself. If you have already had any publications, even in newspapers and magazines, indicate this. Your manuscript will be handed over to the reviewer - having read it (and, rather, having looked), he will give a conclusion about it, on the basis of which a decision will be made about the fate of your creation.
7
Remember the main thing: refusing to publish your novel does not mean at all that it is bad. They may refuse you again and again - do not back down! The chances that your manuscript will be taken right away are minimal. Many famous authors now had to break through for years - just remember this and do not rush to give up.
8
If your manuscript has been taken, you will be informed about this by e-mail or your contact phone number. Do not count on a large fee, with a circulation of ten thousand copies, it can be approximately fifty thousand rubles. But if your novels are successful, circulation will increase and, as a result of this, your fees will grow.
