Biography
Emanuel Savelievich Khavkin is known to viewers under the pseudonym Geller. The artist was born on August 8, 1898 in the Ukrainian regional center of Dnepropetrovsk in an ordinary Jewish family. In childhood, the boy was a very developed and agile child. He liked to participate in all school activities, attending various amateur clubs. Growing up, the young man organized an impromptu mini-theater in the local house of culture, where he showed everyone his performances.
After serving in the army, Emmanuil Savelyevich entered the theater school in St. Petersburg. Having received his education, in 1925 he left for Moscow, where he began working in several theater troupes at once. Based on the theatrical field, the young actor is gaining his own collective, with whom he has been touring the whole country for two years.

Creation
Having received his first portion of fame, Khavkin decides to try his hand at domestic cinema. In 1927, he first hit the set. Initially, he gets small and insignificant roles. But over time, the directors saw a huge creative potential in the young man. In 1932, he gets his first episodic role. In wartime, together with a group of artists, Emanuel Geller was sent to Uzbekistan, where he simultaneously worked in the theater, showing his performances to Soviet soldiers and officers and starred in several films at once.
Throughout his acting career, Emanuel Savelievich Geller never got the opportunity to play a major role. Despite this circumstance, he was the king of the episode. Having starred in more than 30 films and playing vivid and memorable roles of comedic heroes, the actor won well-deserved recognition and the hearts of millions of fans. In 1964, at the age of 46, Emanuel Savelievich completed his acting career and devoted all his recent years to numerous performances on theatrical stages of Moscow. Since 1974, Geller has been honored with the title of Honored Artist of the Soviet Union.
