If you have a good command of a foreign language and are able to accurately and correctly express your thoughts in Russian, you can try to earn extra money by translating foreign literature. However, it should be noted that not every translation will be accepted by the publishing house.

Instruction manual
1
Select the book you would like to translate. Consider your level of knowledge of a foreign language. If you know well medical, computer, or automotive vocabulary, you can translate one of the books on these topics. In addition, now the translation of scientific and technical literature often pays better than the translation of fiction. If you have already worked as a literary translator and have a good reputation, contact the publishers, they may find work for you.
2
Check online for translations of your chosen book. Be guided, first of all, by the name and surname of the author, and not by the name, since publications quite often change the names of translated literature.
3
Contact publishers. Write a letter to the editor, indicate which work you are going to translate, and attach a small fragment of the translation, for example, the first chapter. You also need to attach a synopsis to the letter, i.e. a brief description of the plot, for a work of art or a detailed plan of a scientific, technical or journalistic book. If the publishing house has a department of foreign literature, then you need to contact it.
4
Solve the copyright issue. This is usually done by the publisher, but you can independently apply for permission to transfer to a foreign author, his literary agent or publisher. If consent to the transfer is obtained, all further financial and legal issues with foreign partners are resolved through the publisher.
5
Do not translate the book to the end until you have signed a contract for this work. You may not receive permission for the translation from the copyright holder or the publishing plans will change, and then the translation will not be accepted for publication, and your work will not be paid.
6
Translate the book. Try to meet the deadlines agreed with the publisher, and follow all the terms of the contract on your part. Follow not only the accuracy of the translation, but also the strict observance of the lexical, grammatical and stylistic norms of the Russian language. If your translation is completed in a quality manner, it will be published and you will receive a fee due to you.
