The process of watching movies today more and more often comes down to the fact that people simply go to the Internet, with their usual fingers they type the desired name and watch the selected movie in online mode. A slightly more complicated way is to download the work you like and save it to disk. However, many still have videotapes and discs with dear recordings. To properly store such films, you need to know several important features.
Instruction manual
1
Rewrite the movie on several different media. Let it be a flash drive and a disk, maybe several disks. One should be intended for viewing, the rest will be spare.
2
Leave the medium on which the film was originally recorded on the spare list as well, especially if you have positive memories associated with it. The connection of intangible and material cultures is very important for a person and his sensations, and the same film, but on a different disk, will cause completely different emotions. Leave the opportunity to your memories and after many years helpfully revive in your memory the associations associated with this particular film.
3
Pay attention to the conditions under which the film is optimally preserved. It requires the retention of a certain temperature: the minimum value is 15 degrees, and the maximum value varies depending on the desired shelf life. So, if you assume that in ten years you will not need it, then you can hold the film at a temperature of 23 degrees. Otherwise, it is better to limit the mark to 19 degrees. Optimally, if the cartridge is stored in a humidity range of 25% -35% (a level of 40% -55% will lead to the fact that after 10 years it will be accurately demagnetized). Preferably, the cassette is minimally subjected to changes in temperature and humidity.
4
Rewind the tape from time to time, otherwise the skeins will “stick” to each other. Do this on average once a year.
5
Store movies in dark places. Avoid dust (especially if it’s not about video tapes, but about discs). Allocate a special place to store movie discs, as their boxes are often not always good protection against external damage.
