The most active in the elections are usually people of two age categories - the elderly and those who are going to vote for the first time. The first are used to this procedure, the second is still interesting. Not every young man goes to vote next time. Moreover, slogans about civic duty, rights and obligations often have exactly the opposite result. Young voters are responding to less traditional forms of work.
You will need
- - normative legal acts on issues related to elections;
- - room for the club;
- - a computer with the Internet;
- - cell phone number.
Instruction manual
1
Create a school of legal literacy. This can be done in universities and colleges. Invite the chairman of the territorial election commission there to talk about the rights and obligations of young voters. If there are young deputies in the elected local government, ask them to participate in the school. They can tell you why they went to the polls, what problems young people are going to solve through local governments. A special room for such a school is not required, it can be the university assembly hall, library reading room, etc. Conduct classes not only on suffrage, but also on other issues.
2
Organize a Young Voter Club. He can work in any large enough audience of an educational institution. You can create it in the reading room of the library, and in the territorial election commission. Make an appointment with the owners. The club can be properly designed by making stands on selected topics. But you can get by with computer presentations. Meetings can be held in the form of discussions of literature on this topic, political debate, business games. You can invite the heads of local branches of political parties to meetings, paying particular attention to those that have youth branches.
3
Spend several business games not only with members of the Club of Young Voters, but also with everyone. This can be done even in schools by organizing elections for the school parliament or the High School Council. The participants in the game organize political parties, and it’s not at all necessary the same ones that exist in real life. Each party develops its own program. Choose by lot or form an election commission if desired. Introduce the participants to the rules of election campaigning and voting. Such a game can last several days.
4
Create topics on the electoral law in the city forum or in the city local network. You can make a page of the type “Question - Answer”, where users will ask questions of interest to them, and a legally competent person will answer them. A business game can also be organized online.
5
Organize an SMS electoral quiz. Come up with interesting and attractive prizes. Questions can be asked by the chairman of the territorial election commission or his deputy. They will give an answer with which you will compare the responses of the participants. The same quiz can be organized in ISQ.
6
Explain to young voters that they themselves can nominate candidates for local government and the legislature. They can gain knowledge on how to do this in the classroom at the school of legal knowledge and at the Club of the Young Voter.
Useful advice
On election day, do not forget to congratulate those who came to the polls for the first time. Gifts can be modest, but it will be nice to receive them.
Many young men do not go to the polls, fearing that they will be taken to the military commissariat directly from the polling station. Explain that if a person has a legally executed deferral, then he is not in danger. It is necessary to carry out work with the employees of the military registration and enlistment office, explaining that the elections have nothing to do with military draft. It is better if this is done by the chairman of the territorial election commission or the head of the department of youth policy of local governments.
