The reporter, as a rule, has little time for their preparation - a few hours at most. Therefore, he must act promptly, following a clear plan.

Instruction manual
1
Find additional information about the event that you are tasked to cover. Do not come to the shooting completely unprepared. In conditions of limited time, you may misunderstand the situation. Consequently, the plot will turn out biased. For example, a rally serves as an informational occasion for reporting. Before leaving for the venue, find out why and who the participants are against. Write down the contacts of the leaders, the exact place and time of the start of the action.
2
Come to the event in advance, 15-20 minutes before it starts. Spend this time to good use: talk with the organizers, take additional printed materials (press release, list and copies of participants' presentations, etc.). Write down 2-3 comments of the present specialists. Often, officials are more willing to agree to preliminary interviews. Ask the operator to make some general plans that clearly show the location of the event.
3
In emergency shooting, your main task is to collect a variety of eyewitness accounts. Reliability of the plot will be added by the appearance of a journalist in the frame against the background of the event. You can get expert comments a little later. Include the official point of view in the report in off-screen text.
4
Returning to the editorial office with the footage, make a short outline of the plot. The classic version of the news report is built according to the following scheme: 1. The story of a journalist from the scene (stand-up); 2. An off-screen text that continues the topic and a video sequence illustrating the words of a journalist; 3. Short comments (synchronous) of the participant (expert), recorded at the place of the event or in an official setting, but not in the studio. In the plot, you can use 2-3 synchrons if they do not immediately follow one another; 4. An off-screen text that completes the presentation of the basic information and a video sequence that logically complements it; 5. Stand-up, in which the journalist sums up, draws conclusions and gives predictions. Of course, this plot structure is not the only possible one. It needs to be adjusted depending on the significance of the event, the purpose of reporting and the content of visual material.
5
Write a correspondent text. It should be clear and concise. Talk about events in chronological order. Keep track of the geographical areas, the names of organizations and institutions, the names and surnames of people. Divide the text into the parts that you will say in the frame and behind the scenes. Formulate an eyeliner, i.e. 3-4 sentences that will be voiced by the host of the news release when you go to your story.
6
Together with the operator, mount the plot, write down your voiceover text. View the full report to ensure its quality. Pass the finished material to the issuing editor.
note
The right of a journalist to receive information on various events is guaranteed by federal media law.
Useful advice
When recording in sync, ask the person to introduce themselves before starting the conversation. Then you do not have to remember his name and position during editing: not a mysterious character will remain on the film, but a very specific commentator.
