The Psalter, or Psalter, is one of the books of the Old Testament of the Bible, a collection of spiritual hymns and songs. The author of most of the psalms is King David of Israel. The name comes from the ancient string instrument of the same name, to the accompaniment of which these songs were performed. The reading of the psalter is difficult for modern Christians for two reasons: firstly, it is written in an obscure Church Slavonic language, and secondly, it contains many hints and prophecies that can only be decrypted with the help of interpreters.

1
To read the Psalter is better in Church Slavonic. The book of psalms is literally translated into Russian, with a partial loss of the meaning of some words.
For reading in Slavic special knowledge is needed. With all its similarities with modern Russian, it differs significantly from it in the construction of verb forms and conjugation of nouns. Buy a Church Slavonic textbook in any church and learn the language.
2
Read the first psalm in its entirety. Make a general impression, analyze the meaning of the words. Learn the meaning of obscure words in a textbook.
3
Read the interpretation of this psalm from various theologians: Ambrose of Mediolan, St. Augustine and others. Pay attention to the words the psalmist says predicts about an event.
4
Read the psalm again, correlating your opinion, the text of the psalm and the interpretation of the holy fathers. Remember the epithets that are characteristic for a particular event or phenomenon. Pay attention to the main idea around which interpretations are built - the future incarnation, death and resurrection of Christ.
5
In the same way, analyze the rest of the psalms. It is best to read one song a day, later you can increase the number.
