A single-industry town is a city whose infrastructure and economic importance are concentrated around one large enterprise. Such an enterprise, in turn, is called a city-forming. The city-forming industry employs a large part of the adult population of the city - at least 30% of residents of a suitable age. Such an enterprise can be either one factory or a whole production complex, which includes several dozen enterprises.
How attractive is the creation of new single-industry towns for our country? The fact that they make a significant contribution to Russia's GDP, and the economic crisis in most cases bypasses them. Monotowns are in fact in a special position, which is beneficial for local governments, residents and company managers.
The arrangement of single-industry towns in Russia will be based on the following principles:
A city-forming enterprise is the key to a stable and decent salary. Residents of single-industry towns engaged in production receive very high salaries. As a rule, the goods produced are expensive and unique, therefore the employer does not save on valuable personnel.
The population of single-industry towns should be provided with a full package of social guarantees. Large companies, which are their focus, should provide employees with medical care and protection, insurance services, spa treatment and help children get employees a decent education. Such a single-industry town will never be empty - attractive jobs will attract qualified specialists from other cities.
Decent employees - decent housing! The practice of the existence of city-forming enterprises in Russia shows that their employees are always provided with housing in a privileged manner. The employer either provides them with housing on their own, or allocates funds for that.
