To save yourself and loved ones in a fire is a priority in an emergency. Therefore, try to protect yourself at a stage when there is no threat. That is, entering any building, especially high-rise, remember the location of the entrance-exit, stairs, your route. If it is a public place, a shopping or office center, look around and fix in your head where the fire safety corners are located.
Instruction manual
1
Hearing the cry of "Fire!" or if you smell smoke, and even more so when you see the flame, immediately call the rescue service by phone 01. From any mobile phone (including without a SIM card and with zero balance), you can reach the Ministry of Emergencies by phone 112.
2
If the smoke is not strong, you can breathe, try to determine the source of combustion - an apartment, a garbage container, etc. If a source is detected, you can try to extinguish it yourself. Assess your capabilities and strengths. For example, if smoke comes from the crevices of the apartment door and calls for help are heard without waiting for firefighters, try to knock the doors out.
3
When it is not possible to put out the fire, notify residents of any danger in any way possible. Do not panic. Try to leave the building and help others do it, use staircases and fire escapes of balconies. In areas that are too smoky, hold your breath by covering your mouth and nose with a damp handkerchief. If you squat or lie down on the floor, there will be more breathing air.
4
Remember, flames and smoke on the stairwell of tall buildings spread only in one direction - up. Therefore, if you exit into the entrance of an apartment building or into the corridor of an office building, you are in heavy smoke, immediately return to the apartment or office and close the door tightly. Slots and vents should be wetted with wet rags to prevent smoke from entering. Opening the windows wide is not recommended - this will create traction and increase the fire. However, you can go to the balcony by closing the door tightly behind you, and by all means attract attention.
5
Keep calm, moderate screaming and fearful people. Having assessed the situation, without panic, begin to move towards the exit. Once in the crowd, skip ahead of children and women. Support the elderly by the arms.
6
Do not enter a room or hallway where there is a high concentration of smoke. In the construction and repair of modern buildings, a large number of plastic and synthetics are used. When burned, they release toxic substances, a few breaths of which will lead to inevitable poisoning and death.
7
In no case do not try to go down from the upper floors along the outer wall, drainpipes, risers or using twisted sheets and ropes - a fall without the absence of special skills is most often inevitable. Jumping from a skyscraper window, starting from the 3rd floor is no less dangerous. It can be deadly. If the jump cannot be avoided, try to reduce its height by landing on the roof of the car, canopy or flower garden. Throw mattresses, blankets, pillows, or carpets down to cushion your fall and stay alive.
