What does it mean to be independent? The answer lies in the word itself: INDEPENDENT, that is, a person free from addictions.
An independent person is also a self-sufficient, independent person who is aware of personal responsibility for his life.

1
To be independent, you must first become responsible. We must realize our responsibility for our lives, for our actions, for our loved ones. Often people are afraid of responsibility and avoid making decisions. Because it is more convenient to shift the decision to someone else: parents, husband or wife, society, or the state. Who makes the decision, he answers.
But when someone makes a decision for you, there is only one thing left for you: to obey the rules of others. So you cannot control your life. But the most important thing is that the responsibility for oneself lies with the person himself. Even if someone decides something for you, only you are responsible. Those. if you think responsibility can be avoided, then this is self-deception.
For example, you wanted to become an actor (musician, artist), but your parents decided for you that you better go to a medical institute. You have learned and become a doctor, working on an unloved job, and reproaching your parents for not living successfully because of them. But actually it was YOUR choice. This is your life, and you had at least 2 options: 1. Do it your own way. 2. Give way to parents, but later get the second profession that you dreamed about. Therefore, stop shifting your responsibility to others. Everything that happens to you is YOUR choice, and you are responsible for it.
2
To be an independent person, you need to become independent financially. Because when you are financially dependent on someone, he can decide for you and manage you. For example, can a housewife be called an independent person? Whether she realizes it or not, she has to please the head of the family, on whom she is materially dependent. Even if her husband is rich, her life can turn into a "golden cage."
Other people's money will not make you independent - money earned by someone else. Let you have at least a small, but YOUR income.
3
Money alone will not make you free and independent. You can become dependent on money, and on your comfort, social status, work, etc. When a person is afraid of losing something, it is easy to control and manipulate. Therefore, to be independent, you need to become detached.
You may not be aware of your addiction. For example, you think that you love a lot, you cannot do without a loved one, you are afraid to lose him. But this is not love, but dependence.
You need to realize: the only thing you will always have is yourself. If you get rid of the fear of losing something, you will be a truly independent person.
4
To be independent is also to become self-sufficient. A self-sufficient person does not seek support in others; he has support in himself. A self-sufficient and independent person does not depend on someone else's opinion and assessment. This means you need to have the courage not to be "like everyone else." It means being yourself.
5
As you can see, being independent is not so easy. But still it is necessary - in order to live a full, happy OWN life.
