Iron was invented a very long time ago. The meaning of the ancient Türkic word "duck" consists of two bases: "ut" - "fire", "yuk" - "put".

The desire to iron clothes did not arise at all among office workers who did not want to face the bosses in the mud. In fact, humanity has been trying to look "like a needle" for more than a thousand years. People always wanted to look beautiful and fashionable. But, as the designers themselves say, it’s fashionable to face, and if a person is dressed neatly and his dress or suit is ironed and clean, then this is one of the keys to success. Nobody knows exactly when and who invented what is now commonly called the iron. Most likely, he appeared when clothes from fabric appeared. Although archaeologists claim that the skins were also stroked - with a polished mammoth bone. There were a lot of ironing devices that we do not encounter in everyday life, and have already forgotten about them.

The first ironing device was most likely a flat heavy stone. On the cave paintings of the ancient Aztecs, the ironing process is depicted as follows: the clothes were spread on a flat surface, crushed on top with a stone and left for a while under this press. In Russia, there was a way of ironing with the help of a ruble and a roller. On a well-planed stick, dried laundry was wound and rolled on the tabletop with a corrugated board. This principle is still applied in some ironing machines. The first irons were solid - made of cast iron or bronze, and heated on an open fire. They were heavy, cooled quickly. Over time, solid cast irons were significantly improved: they began to be made paired - with one common removable handle on two cast iron sheets. While ironing with one cloth, the second was heated, which made the ironing process continuous. From above, for better traction, a pipe was installed from which smoke came out. Special holes were made on the sides of the iron to provide access to combustion air. Sometimes you had to wave the iron back and forth to increase ventilation. Some Russian irons were made with a double bottom: it is easy to pull out the ash and the sole warms up more evenly. Alcohol irons were much more expensive - in the 19th century a small flock of sheep was given for him. With the advent of electricity and the development of technology, electric irons appeared.

Now that technological progress does not stand still, the ironing process has become much easier and more fun. But the story of the iron is far from over. After all, before you get a modern look and become an ultramodern device - lightweight, ergonomic, efficient and safe, the iron has come a long way in development. And at all times, this "ironing machine" was a faithful companion of man, making life much more comfortable. And what kind of iron will be in the future - time will tell.
