Biography
Athlete Ryan Joseph Giggs was born in the hospital of St. David in late November 1973, in the British city of Cardiff, in the family of rugby player Danny Wilson and working in the trade Lynn Giggs.
From an early age, Ryan took care of his little brother and, of course, played football. And already in 1980 a significant event happened for little Ryan - his father was offered a very good contract in England, thanks to which the whole family moved to Manchester.
Before the great football player connected his sporting fate with Manchester United, he studied at the academy of their neighbors (and part-time competitors) - the Manchester City club. But the leadership of the “townspeople” did not appreciate Ryan's talent, and soon the “Welsh Wizard” moved to the camp of the “Red Devils”. By the way, Ryan took the name of his mother after the divorce of his parents.
Career
Ryan Giggs is one of the few modern footballers who spent his entire professional career under the same emblem. He signed his first contract with Manchester United in 1990. At that time he was barely 17 years old, and many already prophesied to him a brilliant career. For the first time, he went on the field for the main team of “Red Devils” six months later, in the home match against “Butterscotch” he replaced Denis Irvin. The very next year, Giggs began to regularly play for the main team, while remaining the captain of the youth squad - he continued to play there.
In 1992, the Welshman won his first winning trophy with Manchester United - the English League Cup. In total, Ryan spent 24 seasons in the famous club - more than many teams that have ever played in the Premier League. In total, the magnificent Giggs spent in the main team 963 matches and took the opponent’s goal 168 times.
Ryan Giggs can rightfully be considered the legend of the "Red Devils." He became the champion of England 13 times, 4 times won the FA Cup, 9 times won the Super Bowl and twice lifted the most coveted trophy in Europe - the Champions League Cup. And all this is only a small part of his trophies, which Giggs has counted - 34.
About the achievements of the phenomenal Welshman in the professional field, you can write a whole book, but some are worth mentioning separately. For example, Ryan Giggs was included in the symbolic teams of the 20th century. He is an active member of the British Football Hall of Fame, and the name of Ryan can be found in the list of the greatest football players of the 20th century.
In 2014, when David Moyes was fired, not meeting the expectations of the fans and managers of Manchester United, his place as interim was taken by Ryan Giggs. As a regular athlete at Manchester United, Giggs last entered the field, while being both a coach and a player in the club. To date, Giggs continues to actively participate in the world of football and since January 2018 has been leading the national team of British Wales.
