Elena Mayorova is a star of Soviet and Russian cinema, an extraordinary personality, a favorite of theater and film directors. Her fate was unusual, bright, beautiful - and suddenly ended at the age of 39. The tragic death of the actress is still a mystery to biographers and friends.
Biography: how it all began
Elena Mayorova was born in 1958 in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. The girl was brought up in a simple working family, far from art. Little is known about her early years - Mayorova did not like to be frank even with her closest ones, and she did not consider her childhood to be cloudless. It is only known that from a very young age, Elena was extraordinary, complex, not always understandable - just the way a real big actress should be. It is not surprising that already in the third grade the girl was recorded in a theater studio.
After graduating from school, Mayorova left for Moscow and rushed to storm the admissions committee of all theatrical universities. The first attempt was unsuccessful. Elena's type - thin, tall, nervous - did not fit the coveted canons. The girl had to go to vocational school, a year later she received a working specialty and began working on a construction site. This was necessary not only in order to provide for itself, but also for a legitimate life in Moscow. Elena did not abandon the dream of becoming an actress.
The next year the dream came true - the girl was enrolled in the first year of GITIS in Oleg Tabakov's group. She passed the exams perfectly, the talent was finally noticed and appreciated - during Mayorov’s studies, she was the first in her course to receive an invitation to the real shootings - in Frez’s picture “You Never Had A Dream”. For an unknown actress, this was a real success.
Theater and movie career
After graduation, Elena began working at Sovremennik, and a year later, together with part of the troupe and director Oleg Efremov, she moved to the Moscow Art Theater. The creative path was not always easy, the actress either received leading roles, or was subjected to harsh criticism for the slightest mistake. Sometimes Mayorova even doubted the correctness of her career choice. However, it was at the Moscow Art Theater that the best roles of the classical and modern repertoire were played, from Masha in “Three Sisters” to Lyuba in “Olena and Shalashovka”.
