Cinema, like more than a hundred years ago, remains an important art form for a significant number of viewers. Despite the total closure of cinemas in the 90s, over the past decade there has been some increase in the halls for viewing paintings. Today, Russian viewers often have to watch tapes of foreign production. Ekaterina Mtsituridze has to make titanic efforts in order to accelerate the process of development of domestic cinema.

Love from childhood
For several decades in the Soviet Union, mainly domestic films were shown on screens. Pictures of foreign production were also shown, but after approval by censorship and artistic advice. On watching Indian tapes, our people cried. Charlie Chaplin’s tricks were laughed merrily. Films such as Chapaev or Fate of Man were watched by the entire Soviet country. When people gathered at the festive table, they had something to talk about. It was in such a family that Ekaterina Mtsituridze grew up and was brought up. The girl was born on January 10, 1972 in Tbilisi.
An ordinary family at that time. My father is a geologist, my mother worked in a pharmacy. The child was loved and tried to bring up correctly. The biography of Catherine says that she was named after the famous actress Catherine Deneuve. The fact is that parents loved and appreciated high-quality movies. It can be rightfully argued that they had a taste and sense of proportion. Katya from young nails absorbed this atmosphere and already in early childhood knew many artists from photographs, and could retell plots of films watched. With age, the horizon of interests expanded. Young Mtsituridze began to be interested in technical features and creative concepts in cinema.
At school, Catherine studied well. After the tenth grade, she decided to graduate at a local university. It is important to note here that the girl was trained at two faculties simultaneously - historical and film studies. Relatives and acquaintances note that already in adolescence, the girl disclosed information about a particular film at the level of a professional critic. The children opened their mouths in surprise, and the adults were genuinely surprised at not mature age judgments. Already in the second year of the university, Georgian television people drew attention to an erudite student.
The first publication of Ekaterina Mtsituridze appeared on the pages of the magazine "Cinema" in 1991. It can rightfully be said that the professional career of the future chairman of Roskino began at that time. A young, ambitious and energetic journalist managed to prepare publications for both the magazine and the newspaper "New Screen", and to conduct a news program on television. In 1994, she completed her studies at the university and received two diplomas - historian and film critic. In the process of preparing a thesis on history, I managed to decently learn two foreign languages - Italian and English.

Moscow saga
Being a certified specialist, Mtsituridze soberly weighed her qualifications and possible areas of professional activity. Of course, you could go overseas to the famous "Hollywood". Or to Italy, where you already had business acquaintances. Catherine chose the best option - went to Moscow. In the yard was 1994. In the Russian capital, dramatic changes took place. People with different levels of professional training and general erudition sought to work on television. The "Caucasian guest" had to go through a regular casting and demonstrate her competence.
During the year, Catherine worked on the most labor-intensive part of the technological process. She was accepted as an ordinary editor in the Teleutro program. I had to work like a draft horse. For all the time at his "post" did not happen a single blot or hitch. The moment came, and in the fall of 1996, Mtsituridze began to lead her favorite column “This Movie” in the “Good Morning” program. Communicating in a professional environment, the presenter secures the qualifications of a competent analyst and expert. Five years later, she was invited to the jury of the Moscow International Film Festival.
In order to evaluate the work of an outsider, specialist or amateur, a jury member must take an external and impartial position. Moreover, the observing and evaluating subject is required to have an appropriate level of competence. It is not at all surprising that after a short period of time, Ekaterina Mtsituridze is invited to the jury of the Kansk Film Festival. This is already an international level. Behind such a representative, all the power of the state machine and the trust of the creative intelligentsia. This is a serious burden and responsibility.
