Joe Taslim is an Indonesian actor and former professional athlete. Winner of the judo championship held in 1999 in Singapore. More than 10 years was a member of the judo team of Indonesia. He began acting in films in 2008.

The future professional athlete and actor was born in the summer of 1981 in South Sumatra, Indonesia. Full name Joannes Taslim. His parents were from China and moved to Indonesia before the birth of the boy.
From an early age, Joe became interested in sports and martial arts. He mastered many kinds of martial arts, but in the end the boy's final choice fell on judo. It was in this type of struggle that he was able to achieve high results and make himself known throughout the country.
In 1997, Taslim joined the judo team of Indonesia and participated in many prestigious competitions, winning gold and silver medals. For more than 10 years, he played for the national team, participating in national championships.
In the early 2000s, the young man was forced to interrupt his training and participation in competitions because of a serious injury received in one of the competitions. After a long rehabilitation, he realized that he would have to leave a professional career in sports and decided to completely immerse himself in creativity.
Taslim began to try his hand at modeling and film. Soon he became a successful representative of show business.
Film career
Joe first appeared on screen in 2008. He immediately received one of the central roles in the Indonesian thriller Karma. A year later, he got a small role in the action movie "Aroma". Both films did not go on wide release and therefore are almost unknown to moviegoers.
In 2010, Taslim was approved for the lead role of Jaco in the action movie Raid. The picture was filmed by representatives of France, the USA and Indonesia. According to the plot of the film, a special forces unit is tasked with neutralizing the drug lord who has settled in one of the multi-storey buildings in the center of Jakarta.
The film received high marks from viewers and film critics. From that moment, Taslim’s career began to gain momentum, the actor received new invitations from producers and directors.
After 2 years, Joe appeared on the screen in the cult project "Fast and the Furious 6", where he played a character named Jah.
The actor got another notable role of Lee Young in the series "Warrior". The action movie has already earned the love of viewers around the world.
In 2019, Taslim took part in the casting of the new project "Mortal Kombat", which is scheduled for release in 2021. It became known that he will play in the picture of one of the key characters - Sub-Zero.
