Together with his father, the boy was ill (and is ill now) for the football club Aldershot Town.

Movie career
Mark Herman, the director of the film The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, shot it based on the novel by the writer John Boyne, receiving many awards and a lot of criticism for historical inaccuracies. This is a childhood story of two boys who fell during the Second World War.
One of them, Bruno, is the son of a high-ranking German official who lives in abundance and is confident in the superiority of his nation over the rest of the world. This boy was played by another child actor, the famous Ace Butterfield.
The second important character in the film is the little Jew Shmuel, who lives in a labor camp for Jews, which is located near the estate where the Bruno family moved because of the new appointment of his father.
Bruno has no idea what people are doing in this area fenced off from all over the world, what black smoke sometimes falls from the chimneys of buildings scattered around the camp. But he is interested in everything - and he meets his peer Shmuel, and then, having obtained the same striped pajamas as a new friend, he penetrates the territory of a strange "farm".
After the long auditions and doubts, Jack Scanlon was chosen for the role of Shmuel. The boy brilliantly coped with his difficult role, and they started talking about him. This film, released in 2008, was the debut for Jack in the full-length movie. Jack’s next work on the set was a cameo in the BBC One mini-series The Fugitives about Homeless Children, and then he starred in the popular multi-part Family Relationship project.
