Biography
David Keith was born in 1954 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Even at school, he noticed a talent for singing and acting, so the choice of the future path was obvious. The family supported his desire for creativity.
Keith went to university in Tennessee, and immediately began playing at the university theater. He played in classical productions and musicals, often he was given the main roles. As the actor himself later said, it was an invaluable experience - in those years his acting skills were polished, and he received many useful skills.
It was at the university that David firmly established his opinion that the acting profession should be the main business of his life. Therefore, having received his education, he went to New York and became an artist of the musical theater.
Movie career
For a year, Keith sang in musicals, and then decided to move to Los Angeles to try his luck at the movies. Very soon he made his debut in the sitcom "Happy Days", and then in the comedy "Co-Ed Fever".
Each aspiring actor dreams of a major role, and Keith was lucky in this regard with the picture "Rose" (1979), where he played a bodyguard. This film was followed by the paintings "The Great Santini" (1979), "Generating Fire" (1984) and others. The last tape brought David worldwide fame.
In 1982, Keith had the opportunity to act on the same platform with Richard Gere in the film "Officer and Gentleman." This is the story of cadets of a flight school, forced to go through the difficulties of military training, through love torment and the search for the meaning of life. Young people passed all tests with honor, becoming real officers. For a role in this picture, David Keith was nominated for a Golden Globe as a supporting actor.
