Denis Matsuev is a famous Russian pianist, whose fame is booming around the world. And he still calls himself a simple Siberian and is proud that he was born and raised in Russia.

Childhood
Denis Matsuev was born in 1975 in Irkutsk. His family has been musical for many generations, so the choice of profession was destined for Denis from birth. But no one, of course, thought that an ordinary Siberian boy would become a world-famous pianist and would play the piano of Sergei Rachmaninov himself.
Denis's mother taught piano, but the boy’s first teacher was his grandmother, who expertly owned several instruments. Denis's giftedness manifested itself early; he studied at the best music school in Irkutsk. But soon this seemed to a little growing talented pianist, and so the family decided to move to Moscow.
Education
Denis never tires of thanking his parents for sacrificing his arranged life for him and exchanging Siberian open spaces for a small one-room apartment in Moscow. This gave him the opportunity to become what he became.
Denis entered the specialized Music School at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, and then at the Conservatory itself.
Career
In his final year at the Conservatory, Denis Matsuev won the Tchaikovsky International Competition, the most prestigious competition in the music world. The execution of Matsuev stirred up the public. The fact is that Denis first went beyond the strictly canonical performance of musical works, adding emotionality to them. Over time, this became the pianist's calling card. During the performance of Russian music, the whole expanse of Siberian open spaces and the power of the Russian spirit breaks out from under Matsuev’s fingers.
The victory in the Tchaikovsky Competition was a powerful impetus in the career of a pianist. He began touring with success all over the world, where he was always looked forward to. Matsuev works at the Moscow Philharmonic, where he organized his own subscription, where he is trying to attract broad masses of classical music, and he succeeds.
World recognition
Matsuev joyfully greeted by spectators from around the world. Denis Matsuev has become the hallmark of Russia, its pride. He spoke brilliantly at the closing of the Olympic Games in Sochi, where he impressed listeners from around the world with the emotionality of his game and the beauty of Russian music.
