Dexter Fletcher is an English actor, director and screenwriter. He is well known to the audience in Guy Ritchie's film "Cards, Money, Two Trunks." Dexter began his creative biography in 1976 and has since starred in dozens of films and TV shows, and has also directed several films, including Bohemian Rhapsody.
Fletcher got his first roles as a child. In the future, he consciously chose the profession of an actor, having received education in one of the theater schools.
Dexter is also involved in voice-overs for television commercials and has repeatedly appeared as a narrator in Discovery Channel's documentary projects.
Since 2012, he took up directing. On his account the films: “Wild Bill”, “The Sun over Leath”, “Eddie“ Eagle ”and the sensational picture about the work of Freddie Mercury:“ Bohemian Rhapsody ”, in which he replaced the director Brian Singer.
The beginning of the biography
Dexter was born in the winter of 1966 in England and from childhood he was fond of creativity. He played his first role in the film “Bugsy Malone” at the age of ten, and later, in his school years, took part in several more film projects. When Fletcher turned fourteen, he starred in the famous director David Lynch's "Elephant Man, " based on the story of Joseph Merrick.
This was followed by several roles in the movies: "Bounty", "Revolution", "Corovaggio", in the series: "Newspapers" and "Purely English Murder".
After leaving school, Dexter continued his studies at the theater studio to get a professional acting education.
Film career
The fame brought the actor a role in the black comedy Guy Ritchie "Cards, money, two trunks." The film itself was perceived by critics ambiguously, many said that Richie was copying Tarantino, but as a result, the film collected more than 25 million worldwide and received several awards. The acting work of Dexter was appreciated and well received by the audience.
Then a few more works appeared in the actor’s career. He starred in the thriller "Depth", then in the film about Gilbert and Sullivan "Cooter", which received many awards at film festivals, and in the series "Brothers in Arms".
In the early 2000s, Dexter tries himself as a director and shoots the dramatic film “Wild Bill”, which tells how Bill who is released from prison is forced to make contact with his children, who are already teenagers, and about the difficulties he faces.
A year later, another Fletcher's directorial work followed - “Eddie Eagle.” A biographical film about a skier who has been dreaming since childhood about participating in the Olympics and about the difficulties he faced. The picture was warmly received by the audience and was later awarded the Heartland Film 2016 award.
Replacing director Brian Singer in the filming of Bohemian Rhapsody in 2017, Dexter continued to shoot pictures of famous musicians, and his next film, titled "Rocketman, " is dedicated to Elton John. The picture should appear at the box office in May 2019.
Starting to direct, Fletcher does not leave work in the cinema as an actor. On his account more than 80 films and series, including: "Doom", "Tristan and Isolda", "Hotel Babylon", "Stardust", "Garbage", "Three Musketeers", "Dare in Paradise", "Ended".
