Having become a schoolboy, the boy himself created his own shows. He sang during performances, played skits, played the instruments. Joseph learned to master the guitar, saxophone, drums and trumpet. A fourteen-year-old teenager continued his education in college.

Daniel became famous as a great melodic author and arranger. He was enthusiastically received in several countries. A new collection with country and jazz motifs, Lullaby for the Lion, was presented to listeners two years later.
World fame began in 1979 with the collection "Blue Nirvana". The main role in the compositions was assigned to the piano, accompanied by magnificent arrangements with simple and beautiful texts. The singer’s new discs came out one after another, Lavoie received prestigious awards, the first of which was the debate “Felix” as the best performer of the year, and won fame both in Europe and in the USA.
A talented musician not only wrote and performed songs. Signed was 1984. Lavoie released the album "Tension, attention". The song "Ils s'aiment" was extremely popular. Daniel and his friend founded the Recording House to help young performers. The composer created the author's concert program "Hôtel des rêves" and began touring with it.
In the rock opera Lara and Plamandona "Sand and Romance", the singer took part in 1992. The musician turned into an artist Eugene Delacroix.
