Those who like to watch science fiction or adventure films have probably watched frames with excitement and surprise when the hero soars easily in the air, falls down from a great height with a stone or passes through the wall of a house. To create such miracles in cinematography, for a long time and successfully use the so-called combined shooting.
Combined filming in cinematography
When shooting films, it is often necessary to perform life-threatening scenes when an actor is faced with chasing city rooftops, falling from a moving car or train, acrobatic stunts. Sometimes doubles are invited for such work. However, the capabilities of the most daring and trained stuntmen do not always correspond to the complexity of tricks.
The director and cameraman come to the rescue with special shootings called combined.
Combined surveys are most often conducted by combining several elements in the same frame, which are previously shot at different times and in different places. As a result, after such a combination, the most incredible special effects are obtained. The quality of the final picture and its reliability are largely determined by the features of the installation that completes all the work.
Special types of filming began to be widely used at the beginning of the last century, when young cinema was looking for ways to reach the audience. Already in the 20s of the XX century, operators used a combination of dangerous scenes and real actors. Most often it was about the simplest video editing of different scenes in one frame. Two or three scenes were shot from different points with time intervals, and then superimposed them on top of each other. Such combination methods were fairly primitive and relatively cheap.
