The word gender literally means gender. However, the semantic content of these two terms is different. This is especially evident in such a concept as “gender policy”.

Both concepts - gender and gender - characterize the division of people into men and women. But the term "gender" refers to biological separation, and "gender" to social.
The difference between gender and gender
Gender is a biological characteristic of a person. It can already be determined in a newborn by primary sexual characteristics, i.e. on the anatomical structure of the external genital organs.
From this point of view, the gender of a person in no way depends on the culture to which he belongs. Does not affect the gender and environment in which the child will grow and be brought up.
Gender refers to social gender - a person’s behavior associated with his social role as a man or woman. This is determined by a whole system of ideas about how a person of a certain gender should behave, and what behavior is prohibited for him or her. The gender role prescribes which professional activity is more acceptable for a man and which for a woman. These ideas vary from era to era, and within the same time - from people to people, from culture to culture. This distinguishes gender from the biological characteristics of sex. For example, a US citizen from a biological point of view is no different from a resident of Saudi Arabia, but their position in society related to gender is different.
Gender, as a social gender, may not coincide with the biological as a result of education. Such human stories have taken place not only in "corrupted" modernity. For example, parents raised the famous pirate woman Mary Reid as a boy as a child, because a male child was needed to receive the inheritance. This subsequently led her to the occupation, which at the beginning of the XVIII century, in principle, could not be considered "female".
