As part of a criminal case instituted into the riots on Bolotnaya Square in Moscow on May 6, 2012, law enforcement agencies conducted a series of investigative actions against those who are considered involved in violations of the law. In June, searches were conducted with prominent members of the opposition. Among those who did not escape this unpleasant procedure were blogger Alexei Navalny and TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak.

Detective-search measures in the framework of the criminal case of violations of order during the May "March of Millions" were held on June 11, 2012. A search was conducted in the apartments of the TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak, who repeatedly took part in events held by opponents of the current government. It should be noted that Sobchak was not present at the rally on May 6.
In the apartment occupied by Ksenia Sobchak, a safe was discovered in which there was a rather large amount of money. Dollars and euros totaling about 1.5 million p. were laid out in more than a hundred envelopes. Law enforcement officials doubted that this amount is of "banking" origin. On some of the envelopes there are inscriptions, which the investigation has yet to decipher. Perhaps the funds found are related to the events held by the opposition in different cities of the country.
Ksenia Sobchak herself said she did not understand why she did not have the right to keep at home the money that she had earned for several years and reflected in the tax return. Meanwhile, the tax inspectorate began a desk audit of information on Sobchak's income for 2011, said a representative of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Vladimir Markin. During the investigation, it is also planned to check the activities of commercial companies registered on Ksenia Sobchak, as well as her bank accounts.
Similar searches were carried out on the same day in the apartment of the blogger and organizer of the Rospil project, Alexei Navalny, as well as in his office. Employees of the Investigative Committee seized a significant amount of material evidence from Navalny, including office equipment, electronic storage media and a large amount of literature with anti-state slogans.
Lawyer Henry Reznik considers the searches of his client Ksenia Sobchak and other opposition leaders unreasonable and lawless, aimed at discrediting these people in the eyes of the public. Alexey Navalny has already appealed against the decision of the judicial authorities that issued a search warrant in his apartment.
