For special forces, it’s not so much the drill and bearing of the manuals that are important, but the ability to work smoothly in non-standard situations that may arise during hostilities. These criteria are fully met by Chinese special forces, which was formed about thirty years ago.
When did the Chinese special forces
The need to create special units as part of the armed forces of China was due to the specifics of military operations, which was characteristic of the 80s of the last century. In 1985, the country's military leadership concluded that in the near future large-scale military operations using traditional units would lose their significance.
Based on the analysis of the situation in the world in China, the concept of the development of military units with a special purpose was adopted.
China’s military strategists calculated that, given the then state of affairs in politics, the most likely could be a short-term, but very intense conflict on the periphery of the country. The army began to prepare not for full-scale military operations, but for limited clashes on the border, which were supposed to be carried out with the help of high-tech weapons and special forces.
The first military unit endowed with special functions appeared in China in 1988. To date, almost all military districts of the country have special regiments, the total number of each of which, according to some sources, exceeds one thousand people. Units of special forces report directly to the military leadership of the district.
In addition, special units of air and sea landing have been created in the PRC. There is also special forces in the Ministry of Public Security of China.
