Good friday
In Latin, Good Friday is called Dies Passionis Domini, and in Orthodoxy the Great Heel is sometimes spoken. Despite the differences in names, the day when Christians recall the death of Jesus on the cross, the removal of him from the cross, as well as the burial, is equally important in Orthodoxy, Catholicism, and other branches of this world religion.
According to the charter, on the night of Thursday to Good Friday, the matinee of Good Friday should be served. At this time, twelve fragments from all the gospels in which they speak of the Passion of Christ are read aloud in turn. Between the various gospels, chants (antiphons and verses) are sung, in which it is told how Judas betrayed Christ for 20 pieces of silver, his betrayal and greed are condemned, and the betrayal of the Jews is condemned. A considerable part of the chants is also devoted to the description of the Passion of Christ in all their greatness.
On this day, the liturgy is never performed, with the exception of the rare cases when the calendar goes so that it coincides with the Annunciation. In this case, John Chrysostom is read at the liturgy. On Good Friday, instead of the liturgy, the so-called Royal or Great Hours are served, during this service they read the paremia - a special part from the Old Testament.
Good Friday Services
In the middle of the day, vespers take place with the removal of the shroud. This service, dedicated to the position of the body of the Lord Jesus Christ in the grave, ends the cycle of worship on Good Friday. The shroud is carried out and placed in a place of honor, in the center of the cathedral or temple.
On the Shroud is Jesus Christ lying in a tomb. Usually he is depicted in growth.
The shroud is decorated with flowers, incense is burned around it, the gospel is placed on it. During the service, she is supposed to stand with her head bowed near the Shroud, as it symbolizes how Christ sacrificed himself for the Salvation of all mankind. They read the canon "Lamentation of the Mother of God".
The Sabbath is held in the evening, then the Shroud is carried out. This means the burial of Christ. On Good Friday, the best texts of Divine Services are read, which are recognized as masterpieces of church poetry.
