Childhood
The boy was born in the summer of 1946, in Los Angeles. The family belonged to immigrants from Mexico, but most of their lives lived in America. The boy's father was a policeman, and his mother worked as a secretary, despite the higher education received at one of the prestigious universities.
In childhood, the boy spent most of the time on the street, walking with peers and listening to local musicians, gradually being carried away by their work. Soon, he decided to create his own team of rap artists. Composing lyrics, he gathered friends around him with whom he began to record his first songs on tape cassettes. Gradually, his poems began to bear an increasingly humorous character, and soon he realized that he liked more than music, but texts that formed the basis for scripts for performances in public.
Chich soon began performing in local clubs in Los Angeles, and after the relocation associated with the start of the Vietnam War, in Vancouver. There he met his future partner Tommy Chong, with whom they created the humorous duet "Cheech and Chong", which became popular in America and Canada.
Film career
The famous duet existed for quite a long time and, in addition to working on stage, began to try its hand at the movies. Their first picture was called "Stoned", which received great success not only in the country, but also abroad.
The producers, seeing the great success of the duet, decided to continue making films with their participation. Soon, franchise sequels appear on the screens, becoming no less popular than the first film. But by the mid-80s, the theme of hippies and “smokers” was gradually fading into the background and new heroes appeared who clearly did not fit the images created by Chich and Chong. Their last joint film was the picture "After Work" and, since the end of the 80s, they stop performing together.
Chich continued his acting career and creative biography already alone. He receives many offers from producers and directors and for several years starred in major and episodic roles in dozens of films, including: “Ghostbusters”, “Deadly Beauty”, “Born in Los Angeles” and many others.
