From the biography of Alexander Leonidovich Burkov
The future Russian politician and statesman was born on April 23, 1967. His birthplace is the town of Kushva, in the Sverdlovsk region. His parents also come from here. At one time, grandfather Burkova moved here from the Volga open spaces.
Alexander's father worked as a crane operator at a local industrial enterprise. Mom worked on the railroad. She began her career as a ticket teller, later growing up to the deputy head of the station.
Two children were brought up in the family - Alexander has an older brother Victor. At first they lived in a communal apartment. Then the father was allocated separate housing at the factory. Alexander spent most of his childhood in the yard. He climbed construction sites with his friends, fought, and was naughty.
Having become older and more serious, Burkov became interested in sports. He was involved in athletics, played basketball and volleyball well. But Alexander could not boast of particular successes in mastering the school curriculum. The most difficult thing was given him humanitarian disciplines. With physics and mathematics it was easier.
Before graduation, Burkov decided to enter the Ural Polytechnic Institute. As a result, he became a student at the Faculty of Thermal Power Engineering. He lived in a hostel. Burkov considers the years of his student life spent in Sverdlovsk to be the most interesting part of his life.
Career of Alexander Burkov
Polytech Burkov graduated in 1989. With a diploma in thermal power engineering, he got a job at the TEA Malachite enterprise. The salary of the engineer in those years was small, and even that was delayed at times. By that time, Alexander Leonidovich had already become a family man. I had to earn extra money on the side.
In the early 90s, Burkov decided to do business. He became one of the leaders of a private enterprise, where he was responsible for transport and logistics. However, Burkov’s business didn’t go. In the end, he decided to try to find application for his abilities in the public service.
In 1992, Alexander Leonidovich became a specialist at the Center for Economic Reforms under the Russian government. A few years later he became the head of the Office for Regional Policy. At the same time, he received the mandate of the Legislative Assembly of the Sverdlovsk Region, where he was elected three more times in the future.
Having gained experience in management, in 1995 Burkov took the post of deputy chairman of the regional government for state property management. He was responsible for the nationalization of local enterprises. After the conflict with the governor, Alexander Leonidovich resigned and refused the deputy mandate.
In 1999, Burkov put forward his candidacy for the post of head of his region and took second place in the polls. He lost only to his former chef Edward Rossel.
In 2007, Alexander Leonidovich became Secretary of the Bureau of the Council of the Just Russia branch in the Sverdlovsk Region. Subsequently, Burkov became a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation from his party. In the Duma, he was the first deputy head of the "Spravoross" faction.
In October 2017, President Putin appointed Burkov as interim governor of the Omsk Region. On September 14, 2018, the politician took office as governor.
