Andrei Gavrilovich Lysenko was a talented painter. Especially the honored artist managed landscapes, historical paintings, portraits.
Biography
The future artist was born in the village of Sandata, in the Rostov region. He was born in July 1916 in a Cossack family.
When the boy was baptized, the father called him Andrei. This name the priest looked in the holy calendar. It was given to the boy in honor of the famous artist Andrei Rublev. Another priest said that being a child with time is an artist. And so it happened.
Andrei was still small when he was already painting with charcoal taken from the stove on the light walls of houses. And then it was already visible how the portraits of the child looked like the originals.
Although after the revolution it was difficult for the family to make money, the husband and wife were dedicated and bought pencils and paints for their little son.
In the native village of Andrei Gavrilovich there was only an elementary school. Therefore, when the child was 12 years old, he left for the city of Salsk to study further.
Here the young man’s abilities showed up for all sciences, especially for drawing. A teacher in this subject helped him prepare for admission to the Art School. Andrei passed the exams at this Krasnodar temple of art with excellent marks.

During these years of studenthood, Andrei Gavrilovich draws landscapes from nature, young peasant women.
Career
When Andrei was 20 years old, he graduated from the Krasnodar School and went to Moscow. Here he showed his work to specialists at the Surikov Institute. The director of the institution, seeing talented paintings, said that he was taking the young man immediately to the second year without exams.
Lysenko had outstanding abilities, for which he was awarded the Repinsky scholarship. Andrei Gavrilovich was the first student to be encouraged by such a monthly payment.
War time
When the Great Patriotic War began, A. Lysenko wanted to go to the front. But the talented painter was sent to Samarkand. Here he draws from life, recreates portraits of children and the elderly.
