Childhood and youth
Surname states consist not only of bank deposits and real estate. In all civilized countries, they respect the ancestors, those people who lived and acted in bygone periods.
Andrei Fridrikhovich Borodin was born on May 24, 1967 in an elite Soviet family. Parents of the future disgraced banker lived in Moscow. His father, Friedrich Fedorovich, oversaw the direction of creating ships for the navy in the structure of the military-industrial complex. Doctor of technical sciences and laureate of the State Prize, he paid great attention to raising his son. Mother worked as a translator in one of the Intourist branches.
A paternal grandfather, a Bolshevik with pre-revolutionary experience, he carried out special assignments at the Foreign Trade Department. He regularly visited the People's Republic of China. My father’s uncle, also a doctor of physical and technical sciences, headed the laboratory at the Radio Engineering Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences. The child grew in abundance, if not luxury. All external attributes - jeans, a tape recorder, chewing gum - important for the status of a teenager, Andrei got without any effort. At school, Borodin studied well. He took part in public life. He was always sent to interschool olympiads in mathematics and physics. Noisy companies Andrei did not like.
When the time came to choose a profession, Borodin decided to get a higher education at the Moscow Financial Institute in the department of international economics and finance. In 1984, Andrei became a student, and after the second year he was drafted into the armed forces. The reason for the appeal was the lack of a military department at the institute. Of course, it was possible in some way to "otmazatsya" from the call. But the descendant of the old Bolshevik considered such behavior below his dignity. Borodin served the due time in the border troops. He returned to the civilian with gratitude of command and was restored at the institute.
In 1991, Borodin received a diploma in finance. He, as a diligent student, was offered to stay in graduate school. Andrei’s scientific career tripled completely, however, in the context of political restructuring, he preferred to engage in practice. In the autumn of the same year, on the recommendation of the head of the department, he went on an internship to Germany. The banking system of the Russian Federation was expected to undergo global reconstruction, and specialists with foreign experience were required in this area of activity. Borodin gained experience in the famous "Dresdner Bank".

Professional activity
Since 1994, Borodin served as adviser to the Moscow Government on financial and economic issues. After a detailed analysis of the situation, the adviser suggested that the mayor of the capital establish a special bank to serve the city budget. By this time, settlement transactions between the budget and counterparties were carried out through several commercial structures that received their commission deductions for this. The mayor approved the proposal, and the Bank of Moscow appeared in the capital. Over the next fifteen years, this financial and budgetary institution became one of the largest in Russia.
During the period when Yury Mikhailovich Luzhkov worked as the mayor of the capital, the Bank of Moscow was called the "purse of the Moscow city hall." At the same time, the bank developed as an independent commercial structure, regardless of relations with the main shareholder. During this period, the founder and co-owner of the bank Andrei Borodin led the Moscow Insurance Company. He headed the department of Moscow International University. Borodin’s creativity and pragmatic approach to the performance of his duties are assessed by the Order of Friendship and the Order of Merit for the Fatherland of the second degree.
Departure abroad
The attitude of the authorities towards the Bank of Moscow changed in the fall of 2010, after the mayor of the capital, Yuri Luzhkov, left his post. A new team of managers in the capital’s government placed their people in key positions. The bank began to check and find all kinds of flaws. Borodin was not surprised at actions of this kind. He had to sell his block of shares to the owner of VTB Bank with a big discount. Then more stringent measures followed. Another inspection found a "hole" in the balance sheet of more than three hundred billion rubles.
After this news, Borodin left the borders of his native country and settled in London. The capital of the British Empire at all times welcomed refugees from Russia and other countries. The Russian prosecutor's office followed several requests for the extradition of a fugitive banker. However, the British authorities refused to fulfill these requests. After numerous petitions and litigations in 2016, Andrei Borodin received political asylum in the UK.
