Not every songwriter manages to write hits that do not lose their popularity on the stage for more than half a century. Anatoly Sergeyevich Gorokhov succeeded. His golden hit "Beauty Queen", which was first performed by Muslim Magomayev, is still included in their repertoire by modern singers. Biography
Anatoly Sergeyevich Gorokhov was born on April 7, 1938 in Kalinin (now Tver). Anatoly's parents were educated and intelligent people. His father worked in the chemical industry and served as factory director. Anatoly's mother worked at an textile factory as an engineer. The Gorokhov family had four children. Anatoly was the youngest child.
From childhood, he loved to sing. Anatoly listened to popular singers singing on the radio and singing along to them. The boy had a musical ear and easily remembered songs.
Anatolia was three years old when the Great Patriotic War began. The first performance of the future singer took place in childhood. He sang the song "Eh, Roads" in front of Soviet officers who went through Kalinin to free Konigsberg. At the age of six, the boy showed a poetic gift, he wrote a New Year's poem.
Anatoly Gorokhov studied well at school. Studying was easy for him, and there was free time for classes in various circles. Anatoly's interests were very diverse. In addition to his passion for singing, he attended the boxing section. He also liked to engage in design. The young man managed to make an apparatus for scuba diving.
After graduating from high school in Kalinin, Gorokhov decided to enter the Moscow Higher Technical School. N.E. Bauman. He successfully passed the exams, but he was not interested in studying there. Anatoly gladly sang for his friends at student parties. One of Gorokhov's acquaintances, hearing his singing, insisted on Anatoly's admission to the Moscow Conservatory.
Having survived a huge competition, which amounted to 170 people per place, Anatoly Gorokhov became a student in the vocal department of the Moscow Conservatory. The young man had an amazing timbre of voice, which was noted by his teachers of vocal art. A wide range of voices - from tenor to bass allowed Anatoly to perform both opera and pop works.
Gorokhov continued to write poetry, but did not dare to publish them. In the wall newspaper of the conservatory, he printed his poems under the pseudonym Volgin.
After graduating from the conservatory, Anatoly began working as a vocalist. Numerous concerts and a busy tour schedule negatively affected the vocal cords of the singer. To keep his voice, Gorokhov had to leave the career of a vocalist for a while.
He began to work at the All-Union Radio as an editor. Anatoly Sergeyevich with great enthusiasm took up a new job. The musical program "Do-re-mi-fa-sol", which was broadcast on the radio in the 60s and 70s of the last century, was very popular with Soviet listeners. Later, the program "After Midnight" appeared for those who do not sleep. It sounded lyrical songs and musical and poetic compositions that contributed to the relaxation of people after a working day.
On the radio, Anatoly Gorokhov met Muslim Magomayev. The young people immediately became friends, because they had a lot in common. They both loved the works of Russian and Italian opera, they liked the same pop songs.
Anatoly Gorokhov included a song performed by Muslim Magomayev in each radio program, Do-re-mi-fa-sol. Grateful listeners wrote letters on the radio that on Sundays, on the day the program aired, they were looking forward to their beloved singer.
The modern song genre causes many complaints from Anatoly Sergeyevich. He is saddened by the lack of poetry in the songs of today. In his opinion, an immoral and unspiritual attitude towards life is now being promoted from television and radio screens. Anatoly Gorokhov is going to write memoirs about this and about his career.

Creation
It is not often possible to meet a person who combines several talents. Anatoly Gorokhov is one of such people: a songwriter, singer, radio host. More than twenty songs to the verses of Anatoly Gorokhov sounded in the Soviet era on the stage. The first hit was the song "Echo", which was performed by the vocal quartet "Accord". Then the whole country sang a comic song "Penguins."
The poet’s friendship with the singer Muslim Magomayev gave the audience “Rhapsody of Love”, “Shaherizad”. Magomaev was not only the performer of these songs, but also the author of music.
Together with the composer Arno Babadzhanyan, Anatoly Gorokhov wrote verses for several songs that were in the repertoire of Muslim Magomayev. One of them, the Beauty Queen, immediately won the hearts of the audience. Records with this song, which were released by the recording studio "Melody", were quickly sold out in stores.
In 1971, the multi-part television movie "Investigations by Znatoki" was released on the screens of the country. Each series of the film began with the song "The Unseen Battle", lyrics to which were written by Anatoly Gorokhov to the music of Mark Minkov. Workers of the internal affairs bodies liked the song. In 2011, Anatoly Gorokhov became the laureate of the Moscow police department for the best works in the field of literature and art.
Anatoly Gorokhov was a popular singer in Soviet times. He is well known by people of the older generation. "I am going for happiness" was called the record on which the songs performed by Gorokhov were sounded.
