Biography and family
The writer was born on 8.01.1959 in Zaporozhye (Ukraine). He was educated at the Leningrad Technological Institute as a chemical engineer. After studying, he worked at various enterprises, was seriously fond of karate-do, the creation of poems and songs. He was a member of the "City Song Club", where he began to compose works for pop, radio and television.
In 1986, he quit the defense plant and became the shift supervisor at the Red Triangle. In the same period, he became a laureate of the All-Union Competition. In the 90th year of the last century, the first author's collection of poems “The Way to the Heart of the Mountain” was published, and began working in the theater. He made his debut by writing the libretto for the children's play “The Wizard of the Emerald City”.
Alexander Vladimirovich was married three times, each of whom he considers successful. Each time a family was created out of mutual love. In 2001, there was an acquaintance with Anna Gurova. She is his wife to this day. Anna is one of the famous writers, author of science fiction and children's books. The meeting took place at the literary meeting of Mazin with his readers. Gurova was not a fan of the writer, but at a meeting she was completely by accident. In total, Alexander has four children and one granddaughter.
Creativity and career
The writing career of Alexander Mazin went uphill after participating in the competition of the publishing house "North-West". In 1994, the first novel, The Shaker of the Firm, was published, which was later published under the new title Sleeping Dragon.
In 1995, Alexander Vladimirovich left the theater, devoting all his time to prose. Simultaneously:
- works in advertising;
- makes attempts to publish a magazine for those who study English;
- signs a contract with the ABC publishing house.
The famed mystical thriller “Inquisitor” brought fame, which appeared after the publication of the books “Panic” and “Fargal”.
When a default occurred in 1998, the ABC could not continue to collaborate with the author. Therefore, the latter was forced to switch to "Terra", and a little later - to "Machaon". At that time three books were published. About Blind Orpheus, Mazin spoke a little later as the most valuable work for him.
A few years later, V. Krylov, co-owner of the St. Petersburg publishing house Nevsky Prospekt, became interested in the Nomad project. The printing company Krylov was specially created for him. In it, the writer was employed as an editor. Remaining in office, Mazin continued to delight readers with new products. In 2011, he won the Bast Prize for historical fiction. The work itself was written twenty years ago.
The publishing house "Krylov" was tasked with bringing back adventurous and adventure historical novels, using a modern language to describe a historically reliable world. The author notes that his supertask is the interest of readers in the past so that after reading fiction there is a desire to turn to scientific.
In 2014, Alexander accepts the proposal of the AST publishing house and in one of its branches he founded his own editorial office, Astrel-SPb.
