She began acting in films in the seventies of the last century and was very popular. She worked on the same platform with the stars of Indian cinema: Dev Anand, Amitabh Bachchan, Mithun Chakraborti and others.
She loved and was loved, did not betray, but was betrayed, did not humiliate, but was publicly humiliated. She endured a lot, but still found the strength to return to the acting profession.
Biography
The future actress was born in Bombay in 1951 in a mixed family: mom was half English, and dad was born in Afghanistan. He was a screenwriter and created plots for films using the pseudonym "Aman." This pseudonym became the stage name of Zinat.
As can be seen from the biography of the actress, life has been testing her since childhood: when she was thirteen, her father died. The girl was very worried because she and her father were close. And when my mother married a German engineer, Heinz, she hated him.
Fortunately, he turned out to be a patient and understanding stepfather and withstood all the attacks of the teenager, made friends with Zinat. And even helped her a lot when they moved to California.
In America, Aman entered the University of Southern California, but did not graduate: she first began to build a modeling career, and then completely went back to India. She began working in Femina magazine, and then again became a model already at home.
She won at various beauty contests more than once, and in 1970 she represented India at Miss Asia Pacific and received the main prize. This was the first time that an Indian woman became the absolute winner of this contest.
Movie career
Zinat's debut in the movie was a failure: the films "Hulchul" and "Hungama" did not become popular, and critics smashed them to smithereens. Aman was very upset and seriously thought about whether she should even act in film. At that time, mother and stepfather decided to move to Malta, and she almost went with them.
However, she received a proposal to shoot in the film "Brother and Sister" (1972), and she decided to make another attempt. Her partner was Dev Anand - he played a brother, and Zinat - a sister. They were separated in childhood, and the heroine Zinat became a hippie with all the ensuing consequences: parties, drinking, drugs. Brother found her and tried to tear her out of this vicious circle, from this lifestyle.
This picture received recognition from viewers and critics, everyone said that the young actress did a very good job with her role. As evidence - several Indian awards as an actress who performed the best female role.
After such success, Aman began to receive invitations to roles from various directors, and very often they were invited together with Dev Anand in pairs, because they interacted very well on the set and understood each other. This duet more often than any other audience saw in the cinema. Dev and Zinat starred in such films as “Melody of Love” (1974), “Arrest Warrant” (1975) and others.
A photo of Aman flaunted on the covers of all the most popular magazines.
As a rule, the actress played strong women who go against fate and overcome all the difficulties of life, showing a persistent character. Having grown up in Western culture, she could afford a freer style of play and behavior in the frame, which once served her poorly.
When she played the girl Rupu in the film Razhd Kapoor "Truth, Love, Beauty" (1978), the audience considered this film too frank in terms of eroticism. And since then she only got the role of sexual beauties.
Everything changed the picture "The Adventures of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves" (1979), where Zinat played Fatima. This tale was interesting in that actors from Russia, Georgia, Armenia, and Uzbekistan starred in it. And the main roles were played by Indian actors.
