On August 20, 1983, the future football star Yuri Zhirkov was born in the Russian city of Tambov. His father, Valentin, was an employee of the Revtrud plant, and his mother worked as a postman. Yuri was not the only child in the family. He had a sister and two brothers. All of them lived in a small apartment with one room. Therefore, in the early years of Jura, he played football every day until late so as not to squeeze in a small room. Often the family did not have enough money even for food. All these difficulties and inconveniences tempered the character of the future football star.
