Childhood and youth
Insightful people note that significant results in science can only be achieved through collective efforts. When a person claims that he "made" himself, he is either cunning or subconsciously imitating someone. Yuri Ivanovich Borodin from his student years was engaged in the study of the human lymphatic system. At one time, a doctor with great experience and an experienced teacher Konstantin Vladimirovich Romodanovsky advised him to deal with this topic. Following the example set, Borodin attracted young employees who were striving to become specialists in their field to the research and experiments.
The future academician was born on March 22, 1929 in a family of biologists. At that time, parents lived in the city of Blagoveshchensk. Father and mother, graduates of an agricultural university, were engaged in the selection and zoning of legumes. In the summer of 1941, the Borodin family was evacuated to the famous city of Novosibirsk. Here in 1947, Yuri graduated from high school. He dreamed of becoming a doctor and decided to get a specialized education at a local medical institute. In 1953 he was awarded a red diploma in the specialty "medical practitioner".

Professional activity
A promising graduate was invited to stay in graduate school. Borodin, with his usual accuracy and observation, from the first days joined in research activities. He worked in the laboratory a lot and enthusiastically. In 1956 he defended his thesis and began to lecture to students. At the same time he continued to engage in experiments in the laboratory. A year later, he was transferred to the post of assistant professor of normal anatomy. In 1964, Yuri Ivanovich was appointed head of the department. And five years later he defended his doctoral dissertation.
Borodin's administrative career was developing successfully. The scientist has established himself as a unique leader who is able to conflict-free, but firmly solve a problem of any complexity. In 1971, Yuri Ivanovich was appointed rector of the Medical Institute. Graduates of this educational institution were distinguished by a high level of professionalism. And even today they can be found in the most remote corners of the country. In 1991, at the initiative of Borodin, the Institute of Clinical and Experimental Lymphology was established.
