Biography
Yakov Lazarevich Akim was born in the city of Galich in 1923. He had a younger brother and wonderful hospitable parents who loved music, books, songs and played various instruments. This creative family laid in the sense of beauty in little Jacob.
When guests came to the Akims, old romances, folk songs and classical music sounded in the house. Yakov’s mother played wonderful mandolin, flute, and guitar. And he himself learned to play the button accordion. The whole family was very musical and creative. And they all very much supported each other in any endeavors and helped in difficult times.
In 1933, Akim's father was sent to work in Moscow, and they went to the capital with the whole family. Here, the future poet studied in high school, and very successfully. In general, he did a lot of things, including the fact that he already wrote simple poems - the first ones, for children, but did not pay attention to it, apart from serious ones.
Almost ten years passed when the war broke out. Jacob was only seventeen years old, however, after his father died during the bombing, he had to become the eldest in the family and take responsibility for his brother and mother. He sent them to Ulyanovsk, and he went to the school of signalmen, and then went to the front.
Yakov Lazarevich conquered all the long years of the war, and often in front-line everyday life it was poetry that saved him. He recited poems by other poets, wrote his poems
The war did not make him callous and cruel, not embittered and could not take away his writing talent.
Creation
At first, Jacob wrote "adult" poems, and then he realized that he was best at poetry for children. Moreover, his daughter was born, and communication with the child brought the inspiration that the children's poet so needs.
Akim's mentor in the literary field was Samuel Marshak - he often spoke positively about his work. And Jacob wrote both fairy tales and poems, so wise and deep that adults read them with pleasure. He devoted poetic lines to his friends, describing important events from their life, and this was the best gift.

In addition to the literary gift, Akim had many talents: he perfectly translated foreign authors, played in amateur performances, sang great and played the button accordion. However, his poems nevertheless brought the most good and light to this world. Children recognized themselves in them, the world around them, nature, and with pleasure read these lines on the New Year tree and on other holidays.

Akim's books were published in huge numbers and immediately dispersed to libraries and sold out, and then published again. His "The Adventures of Gvozdychkin", "Girl and the Lion", "Teacher Tik-Tak and his colorful school" were in every family where there were children.
