Biography
Vladimir Yakovlevich Klimov was born in 1892 in a peasant family, where 8 children were brought up. Father became the owner of the artel. Since childhood, Vladimir has determined an interest in engine building. Subsequently, having received a technical education, he became a famous designer who developed engines for aircraft.
Children and student years
Vladimir's father was patriarchal-harsh. He really wanted his son to receive a decent education. When they visited the workshops of the Komissarovo technical school, Vladimir was fascinated by machine tools and machines. Since that time, he wanted to comprehend this particular world.
Vladimir always remembered his studies at this school as a happy time. From childhood, he liked to fantasize: he came up with an interesting game, different electric cars, then special wings with which you can fly. He became one of the first students. Choosing difficult mathematical problems, he liked to delve into the very depth of complexity. Then he began to delve into turning and plumbing.
In 1908, Volodya Klimov first observed the flight of an airplane. Since then, he never stopped dreaming of creating a motor for an airplane. Vladimir read aeronautics and aviation magazines in the library. He was interested in the fate of A. Mozhaysky, who left the service in the navy and decided to build an airplane, and the fate of the aviator S. Utochkin.
Vladimir saved up the piglets that his father gave him, and bought a book about aviation. He attended an aeronautics club where young men made a glider.
During training at the Imperial College, Vladimir Klimov, as the most gifted student, led classes in laboratories. He proudly brought his first earned money to his family.

V. Klimov understood that only at the factory can you become a real specialist. He analyzed the motors of foreign samples, made drawings in accordance with domestic materials. The first motor was made entirely from Russian materials and launched in 1916.
In 1917, his diploma thesis was evaluated as "evidence of the maturity of engineering, " because he understood the design to the smallest detail.
Vladimir Yakovlevich was appointed design engineer of the Kolomna Plant Society, and a few years later, Chief Designer of the Rybinsk Motor Plant. Colossal work has begun. Engine parameters were measured, designs were carefully drawn, scientific and technical materials were studied, foreign documentation was translated. Here V. Klimov created the first author’s construction.
In the 1940s, powerful engines, including turbojets, were created under the leadership of the chief designer. They were installed on planes that became famous during the war. The scientist made a significant contribution to the development of other issues of engine building. In St. Petersburg, there is the Klimov company, which still manufactures aircraft equipment today.
