Biography
Wallace, the father of the future famous actor, worked in the computer industry and was forced to travel often, which he did with his family - his wife Anna, a teacher, and children who were born during these trips. The Hugo family had three children: the eldest Simon, the middle son Weaving, who was born in the spring of the 60th in Nigeria, and the youngest daughter, named after her mother Anna.
Weaving spent all his childhood traveling between Australia, South Africa and England, and by the time he was a teenager, his family had stayed in England for three whole years. At this time, Weaving studied at a private school of Queen Elizabeth, and it was here that he first became acquainted with theatrical classics - it was Prokofiev’s ballet based on Shakespeare’s play “Romeo and Juliet”. The boy was touched by this spectacle to the core and firmly decided to become a theater artist. There he first tried himself in this capacity, playing in theatrical productions of the school.
In 1976, the Hugo family moved to Australia for permanent residence. Weaving completed his secondary education at Sydney Grammar School and entered NIDA, the institute where Mel Gibson, Jeffrey Rush and other famous people studied at one time. Having received a diploma in 1981, Weaving began working at the Sydney Theater.
Movie career
Hugo's debut on TV took place in 1984 in the Australian sports serial drama "Bodyline", where he played a major role, embodying on the screen the famous cricketer, who was at the origins of this game, Douglas Jardine. In 1989, Weaving worked with Nicole Kidman as part of the Bangkok Hilton acting team, and the 1991 film Proof presented the young actor with invaluable experience working with another continent star Russell Crowe.
Since then, Hugo was constantly engaged in film projects, leaving no work in the theater. And in 1999, it was his finest hour, after which the actor became a world-class star - he was offered the role of Smith in Wachowski’s transgender sisters “The Matrix”. Both Hugo and his partner Reeves themselves performed most of the tricks in the picture, because of which both were even injured, and at the same time. The film became a cult and entered the classics of science fiction of the 20th century, and Weaving began to be called one of the brightest movie villains of the era.
