The boy was brought up in a religious family belonging to radical Catholics, and studied at a church school. It was there that he began to participate in Christmas performances and sing in the choir. From childhood, David was passionate about creativity and dreamed about how he would enter the stage and become a famous artist.
Parents did not support the desire of his son, but he made a firm decision to find himself in the work and build an acting career. Therefore, immediately after receiving secondary education, David moved to Sydney. There, the young man begins to look for work in the cinema, attends various auditions and tries on small roles in television series. To earn a living, Wenham got a job in a small insurance company, where he works as an ordinary employee.
The first role went to David in the then-popular Australian television series Heroes. Work on television did not bring fame to the young actor, but he gained irreplaceable experience and gradually began to master acting and move towards his goal.
