Petersburg exhibition organizer, musician, graphic artist, painter Timur Novikov is remembered for his contribution to art. The artist founded the New Academy of Fine Arts. After his vibrant life, a huge legacy remained.

Little is known how much was done by the painter for Russian culture. Timur Petrovich was born in Leningrad on September 24, 1958.
The formation of a painter
From school, the boy began attending a drawing club. The works of a nine-year-old painter were exhibited at his debut exhibition of children's drawings in New Delhi; at ten Timur moved to the Far North for four years.
The nature of this corner made a tremendous impression on the boy. All emotions were reflected in his perception of the surrounding reality. In 1973 Novikov entered the Club of Young Art Critics, created at the Russian Museum. He chose an art education, studied at the college the technology of paints and varnishes.
Since 1876 Timur joined the Hermitage Club of young art lovers. Work began on the first paintings. Together with Oleg Kotelnikov, he created the tandem of Monsters. In 1977, the painter joined the avant-garde association "Annals" of Boris Koshelokhov.
The first apartment exhibition was held. Since 1978, the implementation of the curatorial project began. Timur rented a room and arranged workshops there. Since early June, he began curation of his own apartment exhibition of young artists.
A couple of years later, Novikov teamed up with Kotelnikov for the Assa joint gallery. It lasted until 1987. Since 1981, Timur joined the society of informal artists. In 2014, the film "Zero Object" was filmed about the painter with the inclusion of iconic fragments of his biography.
In 1982, Timur organized the group "New Artists", who worked in a style close to the new directions of romanticism and figurativeness. The main goal was to expand existing standards. Among the participants was Viktor Tsoi.
The group’s popularity grew rapidly, and several actions were held together with the famous Andy Warhol.

The heyday of creativity
In 1983 Novikov collaborated with Kurekhin's Popular Mechanics. Since 1985, work began as the organizer of the concerts of the then-young Kino group. Timur took on the serious role of the artist-designer to create a unique atmosphere of performances. In 1987, he invited fashion designer Goncharov to work on stage images of musicians.
At the same time, “New Artists” staged performances of “Anna Karenina”, “Idiot”, and “Ballet of the Three Lovebirds” according to Harms. Implemented the organization itself in the cinema. They developed styles of parallel cinema and necrorealiam. Many experiments have become successful.
The participants founded new criticism, literature, invented original musical instruments. Their authorship belongs to the iron. In 1987 Novikov took part in the work on the painting "Assa." He starred in the film and worked as a production designer. For decoration contribution to the cinema Novikov was awarded the prize.
Timur Petrovich became one of the first domestic media artists. He directed the Golden Section and The Nightmare of Modernism as a director, and took part in work on Two Captains-2. Novikov founded at VDNH "Gagarin-party". Since the winter of 1988, Timur Petrovich began teaching at the Free University.
In 1990, the exhibition "Territory of Art" was held with a demonstration of the panel "New York at Night." The organization "Youth and Beauty in Art" was organized with Dunya Smirnova. In the summer of 1990, along with colleagues, Novikov participated in the First Exhibition on the Palace Bridge. All works are stored in the museum of the same name.
The following year, the “Fighters” panel was demonstrated at the Second Bet. Often, the visual effects were enhanced with the help of neoclassicism. Classical performances coexisted perfectly with the colorfulness of the nineties.
