American musician Stephen or Stevie Vaughn is known as a famous guitar player, the third in the list of one hundred of the coolest guitar heroes. The famous Rolling Stone magazine named the artist the seventh greatest guitarist in the world out of a hundred. The virtuoso became famous as a vocalist.
The world famous guitarist Stevie Ray Won is recognized as one of the most influential and famous musicians in the world. Filigree performance technique became the basis for the revival of the blues. The unique author style cannot be repeated by any of the famous guitarists.
On the way to vocation
The biography of the future virtuoso began in 1954. The child was born in Dallas on October 3 in the family of a plasterer. In connection with his work, along with adults, Stevie constantly moved with his older brother Jimmy. The music in the house sounded constantly.
A passion for playing the guitar aroused an accident. A brother was presented with a tool when he was seriously injured while playing soccer. The younger one so wanted to learn how to play it that Jimmy couldn’t refuse him. The boy was given the first guitar for seven years.
For three years, Jimmy has become one of the best guitarists in the state. In everything, the younger imitating him decided that he should be different from his idol. The idea was a success: in 1965, Stevie Doyle Bramhall, admiring the game, declared that the music was Vaughn Jr.'s vocation.
The first performance was at a talent show. The young 8–9-year-old guitarists of the Shantones group, due to disputes, have not yet completed the competitive composition.
Until 1970, Steve did not think about a professional career. He got a job at a local diner. However, the dream did not let the guy go. He assembled the Blackbird group, with whom he moved to the Austin campus at the end of 1972. The main bands in it were Jimmy's "Fabulous Thunderbirds" and "Cobras" with the "Triple Threat Revue", which included his younger brother.
Hard way to the top
In 1973, Vaughn was invited to the group "The Nightcrawlers. Doyle Brahmall." The musicians moved to Hollywood to record the album. The A&M studio refused to publish the collection, and the team returned home disappointed.
Since 1974, Stevie finally joined the Cobras, where he played until July 1976. On August 8, he first performed with the Triple Threat Revue. In 1977, Cobras became the band of the year in Austin.
In early autumn, Steve assembled his "Triple Threat Revue", deciding to play only the blues. Until 1981, the composition was constantly changing. He became permanent only after the accession of Reese Vinens. The team reduced the name to "Double Trouble".
In August 1979, musicians were invited to perform at the Blues Festival in San Francisco. At the end of the year, Stevie established a personal life. He and Lenora Bailey officially became husband and wife. The beloved musician dedicated his famous song "Lenny".
In 1981, Vaughn Jr. was invited to perform at a private annual concert. Unusual vocals and incredible guitar playing so impressed the audience that the musician was predicted a great future. Then the team manager made a video and handed the video over to Mick Jager.
First successes
The Stones invited the new heroes to perform with them at a special concert. The result was an invitation to an international festival in Montreux. This was the final victory: everyone spoke of Vaughn’s talent. Until then, unknown groups have never been able to speak at events of this level.
Jackson Brown invited musicians to use his studio to record an album. It took just two days to create the Texas Flood. Then a contract was signed with John Hammond.
The April Fools' performance of Double Trouble at the Steamboat 1874 in 1980 was recorded for radio. In 1992, the concert was released in the format of the album "In The Beginning".
Almost in mid-June 1983, Texas Flood released their debut album, created in a couple of days. He was nominated for a Grammy in two categories. The group took part in the television show, Won won the title of best young talent and electric blues guitarist. He was solemnly named the author of the best blues album. Until 1991, Stevie received the Best Electric Blues Guitarist Award every year.
In 1984, Steve was presented with awards as "Artist of the Year" and "Blues Artist of the Year." In 1985, the third collection of the Soul To Soul band became gold.
Confession
In 1987, the marriage of Lenny and Stevie broke up. During this period, the musician starred in a small role in the film "Back to the Beach". He performed with Phill Collins and Eric Clapton, Albert and the BB King at the September Blues Session.
The following year, Vaughn's performance at the New Orleans Festival was filmed for a special program. The composition "Crossfire" soon turned into a super hit that brought the author a new Grammy. In 1989, the band began touring North America.
In 1990, Stephen Ray and his brother recorded the album "Family Style". He came out in October. The musician went on a two-month tour with Joe Cocker. In 1990, on August 27, the world famous musician passed away.
