Early period
Stephen Jones was born in 1953 in the Pimlico area (London). This is where the main events of Lovecraft's novel "The horror in the museum" take place. Steve learned to read early. I almost never parted with books. He was especially attracted to fantasy, horror literature. He also loved comics.
In 1967, he began to collect a collection of books - the best examples of the horror genre.
Creation
When Jones turned 18, he officially registered with the British Fantasy Society. Then Stephen began compiling collections and anthologies. Could sit at this business from early morning until late at night, without rest. The first serious experience was the preparation of magazines, issues of the community newsletter.
Later, with the assistance of David Sutton, Steve began publishing Fantasy Tales magazine. The first issue went to print in 1977. There were a total of 17 issues. The work was awarded seven British awards, as well as the World Fantasy Award.
Steve always considered writing books and creating magazines a creative hobby and an opportunity to improve his education.
Career
1986 became a landmark in the career of Jones. A book lover went on an interview with John Carpenter, who directed the movie "Big Trouble in Little China." He asked if Stephen planned to move to Hollywood. He replied that he was afraid of competition. Then the venerable director recommended trying his hand as a PR specialist in the film industry.

In 1988, "The best horror from fantasy tales" was presented in London, praising Jones' contribution to the development of professional anthology. This was another impetus for the development of Stephen Johnson's career.
He began to actively work on various paintings, published several dozen books. He later admitted that he was satisfied with each of his fruits of labor, especially those that were created together with the writer Kim Newman.
