Spiridon Mikhailovich Mikhailov was a unique Chuvash ethnographer, historian, translator. During his short life, he managed to create many works that are of great value.

Mikhailov Spiridon Mikhailovich - a unique ethnographer. He was the first writer of Chuvashia, who was recognized in literary and scientific circles of the mid-19th century.
This son of his people is also known as a folklorist, historian.
Biography
Spiridon Mikhailovich Mikhailov (Yandush) lived in the 19th century. He was born in the first month of the winter of 1821 in the town of Yungaposi, Kozmodemyansky district.
When the boy was eight years old, he was given to study literacy in the family of the merchant Mikhailov. So the boy ended up in the city of Kozmodemyansk.
Having learned to read and write, the young man began to work as a clerk in the Board of the volost of Yadrinsky district. Then he is taken to the county police to work as a scribe.
Spiridon Mikhailovich knew perfectly not only Chuvash, but also Russian, Mari languages. Therefore, he was subsequently hired by a translator in the Zemstvo court of the city of Kozmodemyansk.
Creation
The famous ethnographer and historian has created many works dedicated to the folklore of the Chuvash, Russian, Mari peoples. He also has work in economics, geography.
The Chuvash writer also wrote works of art, among them there are short stories, essays.
Particularly famous work was the texts, which he combined under one title "Conversations". The stories of the collection are created in the Chuvash language and consist of dialogues of different people. The writer has several works in Russian. Among them are "Sly cat", "Absorption of the earth", "Unfortunate son", "Chuvash weddings".
Career
A citizen of Chuvashia, who received a good education at that time, created not only many journalistic works, but also was able to collaborate with magazines and newspapers. Among them are such publications as:

- "Russian disabled person";
- The Bee.
Spiridon Mikhailovich also collaborated with a geographical society. For the contribution that he made to literary and research activities, this organization awarded Mikhailov a silver medal. For outstanding achievements and fruitful work, he was awarded the same award by the Kozmodemyanskiy Zemsky Court.
