On a long sidewalk along Hollywood Boulevard in the world cinema center, large stars are mounted with the names of celebrities who have achieved success in the world of cinema and in other areas of life. In total, on the Walk of Fame, as this place is called, there are about two and a half thousand stars, but some of them have no official status.

Hollywood Walk of Fame
Hollywood Walk of Fame is one of the main attractions of Los Angeles. On both sides of Hollywood Boulevard, which runs along fifteen quarters, and for another three quarters along Vine Street, there are terracotta-colored stars with names engraved on them. Here you can find not only famous actors and directors, but also other people who have made a great contribution to the film industry. On some stars, the names of fictional characters flaunt, there are stars dedicated to musicians or musical groups, producers, politicians and other famous personalities. But the majority belongs to cinema figures - 47%, the remaining categories are the development of sound recording, theater, radio and television.
The exception is the names of American astronauts who visited the moon, and the star of Mohammed Ali, a famous boxer.
New stars appear on the Walk of Fame every year, increasing the total number by about a couple of dozen. Therefore, the exact figure always changes. The calculation is complicated by the fact that not all stars have an official status - the fact is that, according to the rules, a person to whom he was dedicated should be present at the ceremony of laying the terracotta monument on Hollywood Boulevard. Some celebrities refused this honor, others simply could not attend the ceremony for other reasons.
The number of stars on the Walk of Fame
In total, on both sides of the boulevard you can count about two and a half thousand stars: approximately half of them are officially open, the others - not according to all the rules. There are also posthumous stars: on the one hand, their owners were not present at the ceremony, on the other, this is the official title. And every year this figure is replenished. Annually, about two hundred candidates in various fields choose stars to discover, and they must meet certain conditions: for example, to work in this field for at least five years. Out of several hundred, several dozens are selected, usually no more than thirty people for whom stars are made.
For a star to receive official status, a celebrity must give her consent and later come to the ceremony. If the person to whom the monument is being erected on the Walk of Fame has already died, the presence of a relative is desirable.
On Hollywood Boulevard, the stars of Richard Crookes and Geraldine Farrar should be installed (for work in the film industry), but they were never found: either they were forgotten during the repair of the Alley, or moved to another place.
