In the figurative expression of a secret Russian agent, scouts and diplomats are always on the front line. The invisible struggle between states and transnational monopolies proceeds without firing or attacks. Sergey Rogov is a professional Russian diplomat.

Parenting and becoming
Interstate relations are built according to certain rules and traditions. The diplomatic department selects competent and psychologically stable employees. People receive specialized knowledge in special educational institutions. Without fail, intellectual abilities and moral qualities are taken into account. Sergei Mikhailovich Rogov was engaged in science all his conscious life. The subject of his research was the problems of national security, military aspects of foreign policy, Russian-American relations, the foreign policy of our country, regardless of what it is called.
The future researcher was born on October 22, 1948 in the family of a military pilot. At that time, parents lived in Moscow. Father served in one of the air forces. Mother worked as a teacher of history. The head of the family was systematically transferred from one garrison to another. Already in his mature years, Sergei Mikhailovich will remember this period, and compare it with the gypsy nomad. Ten times he moved from one school to another. Flights and transfers did not prevent him from receiving a certificate of maturity with a gold medal.
In any region where Rogov had to live and study, he strictly adhered to the daily routine. In the snowy tundra and in the hot sands of Kara-Kumov, he got up at seven o’clock and went out for morning exercises. Then, after breakfast, he went to school or helped his mother in household chores. Sergey read a hundred pages of text daily. From books I chose historical and adventure novels. But most of all he was attracted to the memoirs of famous politicians. In the late fifties and early sixties such books were few.
Once, one of his friends gave him a biography of the famous British politician Winston Churchill. The greasy, samizdat little book had to be read overnight. Rogov not only got acquainted with the content, he forever remembered some of the rules followed by a lover of cognac and cigars. It was from that time that Sergey made up a tough regime of the day for himself and tried to comply with it under any circumstances. A habit developed since childhood helped him to cope with problems in difficult life situations, although some friends considered this an eccentricity.

Scientific horizons
At a certain stage of his development, Rogov wanted to follow in his father's footsteps and get the profession of military pilot. However, after intimate conversations with his parents, he changed his mind. A gold medal and support from his father helped him enter the Moscow Institute of International Relations (MGIMO). From the first year, Sergey began to specialize in a relevant topic - he was offered to study the relations between the USSR and the USA. In 1971, he received a diploma in profile education and entered the graduate school of the Institute of the USA and Canada. During training, he spent almost two years on an internship in New York.
In 1977, Sergei Rogov defended his thesis on "The Impact of the Military-Industrial Complex on US Foreign Policy." In order to disclose this topic in more detail, the young scientist had to work closely with a large number of open sources of information. The subtlety of the situation was that for using secret data, you could lose your visa to enter the country. The graduate student had to mobilize all his resources and skills in order to fulfill all current conditions and requirements.
Professional activity
Continuing to engage in the intricacies of Russian-American relations, Rogov in 1984 defended his doctoral dissertation. At this time, the visit of the head of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev to the United States was preparing. Summits are prepared long and carefully. Sometimes it takes several years. Sergei Mikhailovich was involved in training as an expert. A year and a half, he worked at the Soviet embassy in the United States. In 1989, Rogov was appointed head of the military strategic research department at his native institute. Between the great powers negotiations were held on the reduction of atomic weapons, and politicians needed objective information.
In 1991, after the liquidation of the Soviet Union, Rogov took the post of deputy director of the Institute of the United States and Canada. The situation in the world has radically changed and now it was necessary to establish ties between countries on mutually beneficial conditions. At this point, young scientists with new views and working methods came to the institute. Sergei Mikhailovich devoted most of his time to coordinating the activities of departments and laboratories. In 1995, he took the director's chair.
