The first authors of detective stories
The founder of the detective genre is considered to be the American writer Edgar Allan Poe, who wrote in 1840 a series of stories about the amateur detective Dupin, who uncovered mysterious crimes using intelligence, logic and the ability to notice details. In England, the first author of detectives was Wilkie Collins, who wrote in 1860 the novel "Woman in White", and in 1868 - the famous "Moonstone".
Passion for detective literature gave rise to many interest clubs, the participants of which invented and solved criminal riddles, guided by strict rules.
It is difficult to unequivocally answer the question of who is the most famous author. In addition, the genre of the detective story implies many options: psychological, classic, hermetic, historical, adventurous, fantastic, ironic, political, spyware, criminal. Such a variety greatly complicates the search for the most famous author, because, for example, many researchers include the novel Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky as a psychological detective. Nevertheless, the story of the detective has several writers who are clearly perceived as the authors of the best detective stories.
